Dr. Ryan Zamanigan passed away on July 24, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ryan suffered a ruptured cerebral aneurysm while vacationing with relatives in Port Aransas. He was born May 16, 1987, grew up in Huntington Beach, California, and enjoyed a very active, happy childhood. In addition to being a talented student, Ryan participated in and excelled at many extracurricular activities, as evidenced by his achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 2005. He was also an accomplished student-athlete at Edison High School, lettering multiple times in Track and Cross-Country.
Ryan was a proud graduate of the University of Arizona, was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity, and was involved with Arizona Allegiance, an honorary athletic spirit group. An avid Wildcat, Ryan was an active alumnus and followed Arizona athletics with fiery enthusiasm. Ryan received his Doctorate degree in Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in 2015 and most recently was practicing as an optometrist in Texas.
Ryan wanted to enjoy everything life had to offer. He had a passion for seeking out new experiences and loved to share these experiences with friends and family. He cared deeply for the people in his life and treated everyone he met with compassion and respect.
Ryan is survived by his parents Terry and Sherry Zamanigan, his brother, Tim Zamanigan, and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A scholarship fund has been established in Ryan’s name at Southern California College of Optometry, Marshall B. Ketchum University.
